LONGEVITY TIPS
- Avoid disc pads
that are bonded or glued to the brake shoe. Select pads that are riveted to the
shoe.
- Replace disc brake shoes before pads are worn down
to the rivets. Exposed rivets will gouge the disc rotor and necessitate
its expensive replacement as well.
- If your brake pads get wet from heavy rain or
driving through water, dry them by gently pumping the brake pedal while driving.
- Do not perform work on disc brakes simultaneously;
service brake calipers one at a time. This will prevent the pistons from
popping out of the opposite caliper. It will also preserve a working model for
reassembly.
